Scoring Guide

Students are assessed throughout each unit of study. Grades are then averaged and submitted at the end of each semester.   The units are assessed using the 5 National Physical Education Standards listed below.

* Note that not every unit will cover each standard but that every standard will be assessed at least once per semester.

Standard 1: The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

Standard 2: The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.

Standard 3: The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.

Standard 4: Develops personal skills, identifies personal benefits of movement, and chooses to engage in physical activity.


          It should be noted that a student's grade each unit can be impacted by reminders.

Students will be assessed using the following system:

4-level scale for Ladue’s standards-based physical education:

Proficient: The student consistently demonstrates proficiency. “Independently”

Developing: The student sometimes demonstrates proficiency. “Needs some correction.”

Beginning: The student never demonstrates proficiency. “Regularly needs correction.”

No Evidence: The student does not attempt the skill or concept.
